Bizu jewelry is made by Megan McKean in Portland, Oregon. Her love for jewelry making began in college where she began making and selling pieces in her spare time. After graduating with a BFA in graphic design, she worked for a jeweler and then pursued making jewelry full time. Bizu jewelry is created by combining woven glass beads with metal frames. The beads are hand sewn, one at a time, into a woven fabric using a traditional beading technique called peyote stitch. This woven fabric is then sewn onto its metal frame, adding both color and texture to each piece. Bizu jewelry is simple and understated, yet very unique.
